Fishing in Ariège at Camon - Camping de la Besse
A holiday in the heart of nature
Fishing enthusiasts will find numerous sites around Camon that are ideal for their hobby: rivers rich in trout, quiet stretches along the Hers-Vif, and wide-open spaces such as Lac de Montbel, ideal for fishing but also for walking, swimming and water sports.
🐟 Nearby rivers and streams
Le Touyre – a small stream that passes through Camon, a tributary of the Hers-Vif, perfect for teasing trout or small fish with a light rod or fly.
L’Hers-Vif – a nearby river where trout are often found.
Arize and Lèze – a few kilometers to the south-west, these rivers are ideal for trout, barbel, roach and barbel fishing, with both recreational and introductory sections.
👉 In Ariège, rivers are classified as 1st or 2nd category depending on the fish species (trout in 1st cat.).
🌊 Interesting lakes & water bodies
Even if it’s not just in Camon, these places are still very accessible by car from there:
Lac de Montbel – large reservoir (≈550 ha), very popular for carnivore (pike, perch, zander) and carp fishing, from the shore or in a boat.
Lac de Mondély (La Bastide-de-Sérou) – smaller lake, good for trout, gudgeon, minnow, ideal for leisurely fishing.
Mountain ponds (Bassiès, Redouneilles, etc.) – for the more adventurous angler, some high-altitude ponds offer fario trout in an alpine setting.
