FARM ANIMALS
At the Ferme de la Besse, you'll come across many animals during your vacation with family or friends.
In the center of the estate you’ll find a stable with chickens, chicks, rabbits and pigs.
Horses and foals can sometimes be seen in stalls nearby. Just below you’ll find a park with a pond where chickens, roosters, ducks, geese and goatsfrolic peacefully.
This is also where our traditional Friday fishing competition takes place (July and August).
But the Farm's main activity is cow breeding.
In recent years, the Gasconnes des Pyrénées breed has been chosen. This cow has a silvery-gray coat and forward-arched horns.
The Gasconne des Pyrénées is a hardy breed that maintains the landscape by grazing in the wild. It also helps to keep the meadows of the ferme de la Besse in good condition and to preserve the many species of wild orchids.
Highly appreciated for the quality of its tender, marbled meat, Gascon beef has been awarded the Label Rouge label for pure-bred, pure-tasting Gascon beef.
